Edge64 UnitFAT is an AI-enabled functional acceptance testing platform for PLC control logic. It runs repeatable test sequences against real PLC hardware or PLC simulation and pairs the control program with deterministic field-device simulation.
UnitFAT turns manual sequence checks into repeatable tests, exercises permissives and interlocks before site work, reproduces difficult fault conditions, and regression-checks logic after program changes.
Virtual commissioning usually validates broader machine or plant behaviour, while hardware-in-the-loop focuses on real-time controller and I/O fidelity. UnitFAT focuses on functional control-logic acceptance against the control philosophy, using readable tests and scan-level evidence. It can complement either workflow.
Each check records the applied stimulus, PLC state and command, simulated field feedback, assertion result, and the relevant scan. That creates a replayable engineering trail for controls, process, client, and FAT review.
Projects can use real PLC hardware or PLC simulation through a controlled I/O boundary to the digital twin. UnitFAT is designed for system integrator, batch-equipment OEM, and commissioning workflows. Current technical reviews cover Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider, and Beckhoff environments; exact connectivity is confirmed per project.
The deterministic field-device model injects conditions such as stuck valves, failed proofs, and dead transmitters at the sequence step where they matter. The same condition can then be replayed at the same scan without modifying the PLC program.
UnitFAT is intended for controlled industrial environments. The deployment model—including on-premise and offline operation—is agreed for each project against the customer’s OT security, PLC connectivity, and AI-tool requirements during the technical review.
